The EGR valve is a very important part under the hood of our car, and yet, many drivers are not able to answer the question, what exactly does it play. Its use is explained by the full name: Exhaust Gas Recirculation, i.e. exhaust gas recirculation. The main task of the EGR valve is to reduce the emission of harmful nitrogen oxides and NOX compounds into the atmosphere.
EGR valve
In its time, EGR blinding was very popular, which brought measurable results in better engine performance. Today it is strictly forbidden and threatens with a huge financial penalty. Importantly, incorrect EGR operation resulting in increased emissions may also result in a fine if our vehicle is stopped for inspection.
Therefore, it is worth ensuring the proper operation of this subassembly. The valve lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber, which slows down the after-burning process and emissions of harmful compounds. The sensors under the hood also affect the EGR valve and decide when it should be open and when it should be closed. The most common failure is blockage of the mechanism responsible for opening and closing the valve. The result is worse engine operation, more frequent throttling, lower power and increased exhaust emissions, which can lead to a fine for a bad condition!
Due to the specific design, the EGR valve is extremely difficult to repair. Very often, replacing the entire subassembly may be a much better and cheaper solution. Particularly that the EGR valve used does not cost money. It is worth deciding on the necessary repairs or replacements as soon as possible so as not to risk a high mandate and worse work of the entire engine.
In this category you will find used EGR valves for many car models. The choice of such parts allows you to effectively reduce the cost of necessary repairs, and at the same time restore the car to an impeccable technical condition. Used EGR valves available in the Auto24Parts store have been checked by qualified mechanics, so that customers receive a guarantee of impeccable operation for a long period of time.

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve plays a crucial role in our cars. Have you ever wondered what its purpose is and why it is important not to underestimate its replacement in case of failure? Let's start by understanding what the EGR valve enables in our vehicles. Its main task is to redirect exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber. In simple terms, it helps reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides, ensuring that we don't have to worry about harmful exhaust emissions.
Although some drivers may consider turning off, blocking, or removing the EGR valve, it is not a recommended practice, especially considering the current penalties in place. The EGR valve is a technology designed to play a key role in minimizing the release of exhaust gases into the atmosphere, thus helping to protect the environment. It is an integral part of the exhaust gas recirculation system, located between the intake and exhaust pipes, and is responsible for controlling the amount of exhaust gas sent back to the combustion chamber. The valve closes the circuit when the engine load is too high or when the engine hasn't reached the appropriate operating temperature.
The EGR valve
If you notice the Check Engine indicator illuminated or experience a systematic decrease in engine power, or if black smoke is emitted from the exhaust pipe, it is important to assess the functionality of the EGR valve. As mentioned earlier, the replacement of a faulty EGR valve is necessary to maintain proper combustion standards. Neglecting this maintenance can lead to unpleasant consequences. It is also important to dispel the myth that removing or disabling the EGR valve can increase the car's power. In reality, doing so can lead to more serious engine problems.
In summary, the EGR valve is an essential component in our vehicles, contributing to the reduction of harmful emissions. It is crucial to prioritize the replacement of a faulty EGR valve to ensure the optimal functioning of the vehicle and comply with environmental standards. Ignoring or tampering with the EGR valve can result in negative consequences and potential engine damage. Therefore, it is advisable to seek professional assistance and address any issues related to the EGR valve promptly.
